DESCRIPTION
Swivel office chair from the late XIX century. Rotation is not provided by any mechanism, but occurs only due to the original engineering idea laid down by the author. The object is collapsible and consists of two parts - a bearing base with an axis and seats that are combined and fixed together.
LEGEND
"Luther," as we have jokingly called the chair, is of course not relevant to the life of the great reformer. At the same time, a similar model can be found in the exhibition of the famous room in the Wartburg castle, where Martin Luther hid from the persecution of the Catholic Church in 1521 and performed a translation of the New Testament into German. The room was reconstructed at the end of the XIX century, when there were pieces of furniture that still make up its decoration, as well as captured in numerous drawings and engravings dedicated to the stay of The father of the reformation in this legendary place.
ABOUT THE RESTORATION PROCESS
The condition of the item was burdened by traces of the past, several unprofessional repairs. There were losses of wood, lots of cracks, deformations, as well as serious damage to the back and seat found during the restoration process. The chair had lost its rotation function. The total amount and severity of the damage required careful analysis and preparation. The result of the work was the complete restoration of the chair elements and the return of its functionality.
